I took Tonya Hayes’ Sign Language training and found it very helpful. We implemented 2 signs into our classroom this year. “Please and Stop” and “Please and Help” We used these because of the behaviors in our classroom. The children took to these visual signs so well and it decreased the behaviors in our room. Instead of the kids using anger and their hands to solve problems they began using the signs and they knew their friend did not like what they were doing. Im hoping to add more signs and visual ques for the upcoming year!

We have had the pleasure of having Tonya in our home for two and a half years. She has worked with our youngest son who had a stroke in the nicu shortly after birth and has had hearing complications along with speech apraxia. Tonya has also worked with our daughter who has speech Apraxia and Dyslexia. She has taken our daughter from being pretty much nonverbal to a child who can talk your ear off! She has helped give our daughter her voice along with her confidence to know she can do anything she wants to in this world.

Tonya has been a huge blessing to our family as she has spent five hours a week in our home working with our children and helping me learn strategies and methods of being able to help my children gain strengths in speech. I know without a doubt my kids wouldn’t be where they are today without having Tonya as part of our team.
